United Way of Central Oklahoma truly appreciates Oklahoma friends Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Reba and Vince Gill and others, for coming to help those affected by the May tornadoes and volunteering their talent to the “Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert” telethon.  And, a big Oklahoma thank you to Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores for underwriting the expenses of the concert so that all the proceeds may go to help the survivors of this disaster. The support for central Oklahomans has been overwhelming!

United Way of Central Oklahoma’s May Tornadoes Relief Fund will support the vetted agencies that are providing immediate services today, as well as continuing services into the future for those on the path of recovery affected by the May tornadoes in central Oklahoma.  During times of disaster, it is known that many United Way Partner Agencies work closely with non-partner agencies. If these non-partner agencies collaborate with United Way agencies to provide assistance to victims following a disaster, and find that they are in need of funding, United Way will provide funding with the understanding that they meet the same reporting standards as Partner Agencies.

Multiple counties involving several communities in addition to Moore were devastated by the May tornadoes and will need relief and recovery services from United Way of Central Oklahoma.

United Way of Central Oklahoma will not apply an administrative fee to the May Tornadoes Relief Fund in its jurisdiction.  100% of the proceeds from the concert will go to this fund, to help meet the immediate, intermediate and long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts.
