Representatives from Oklahoma Pizza Hut restaurants presented a check in the amount of $23,990.27 to United Way of Central Oklahoma officials today for the tornado disaster relief fund. The check presentation will took place at the United Way of Central Oklahoma office at 1444 NW 28th Street, Oklahoma City, OK at 11:00AM.
More than 550 Pizza Hut locations across the four-state area conducted a day-long benefit drive on Monday, June 6th for the United Way Tornado Disaster Fund, raising a total of $178,039.13. Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas Pizza Hut restaurants set aside 15% of all sales to support those affected by tornados in all four states, including the Joplin and Reading, KS tornados.
“We feel an enormous amount of pride due to the incredible generosity of our customers and employees from all of the Pizza Hut locations across the four states. None of this would have been possible without them.” said Darla Welchel, Marketing Director in Oklahoma City for Restaurant Management Company, a Pizza Hut franchisee.
Pizza Hut franchisees who own stores in all four states, as well as various vendors and Pizza Hut, Inc. all helped to coordinate the benefit. The tremendous customer support was more than expected.
“United Way of Central Oklahoma and our surrounding areas are overwhelmed by the response to the Pizza Hut fundraiser for the tornado relief fund,” said Debby Hampton, president of United Way of Central Oklahoma. “We are honored and privileged to distribute the funds raised to help those affected.”
Many members of the Pizza Hut family have been affected by this year’s devastating tornados across the Midwest and beyond.
