United Way Announces Record Campaign
On Friday evening, January 20, 2006, United Way campaign chairman Ed Martin announced a record-setting campaign total of $15,638,691.00. Nearly 600 guests celebrated the news at United Way of Central Oklahoma’s fourth annual Snowflake Gala. The Broadway-themed black-tie optional dinner and dance was held at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Jennifer Eve, Jennifer Eve Media, and George Johnson, Oklahoma Department of Human Services, were masters of ceremonies. Burns Hargis, Bank of Oklahoma and United Way Board Chairman, presented the 2005 State of Organization Report followed by Ed Martin, Ackerman McQueen and 2005 campaign chairman, who announced the total raised in the 2005 fundraising campaign.
United Way also presented two volunteers with awards of recognition. Bob Lorenz was the recipient of the Richard H. Clements Lifetime Achievement Award and Tom Miller received the Ray Ackerman Leadership Award. The awards are United Way’s most prestigious honors.
