In 2005, United Way led the effort to bring a critical response upgrade to our community. 2-1-1 is an easy to remember number that connects people in need with resources for help. Located at HeartLine and funded by United Way, Oklahoma Department of Human Services, and others, 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
2-1-1 proved its worth locally in the aftermath of the December 2007 ice storm. Nearly 75,000 calls were received from people looking for assistance. Having a central call center streamlined disaster response and simplified the search for help.
