Dentists for the Disabled and Elderly in Need of Treatment, Inc. (D-DENT), is a United Way Partner Agency that has helped thousands of low-income developmentally disabled and elderly Oklahomans receive free dental care since 1986. Volunteer dentists get no re-imbursement for donating their time.
Recently, Ron Williamson called D-DENT for some much needed dental care. Ron was released from prison after being wrongfully convicted and serving five years on death row. He was diagnosed with jaw cancer in prison and needed all his remaining teeth replaced. Dr. Thomas J. McGarry, a prosthodontist specializing in dentures and dental implants, agreed to help. "A smile can affect your outlook on life," said Dr. McGarry. "Dental implants work for anyone, whether they are 18 or 80 years old. I've seen the joy patients experience after receiving dental implants - they get the courage to live the lives they've wanted."

Thanks to the generosity of Dr. McGarry and Centerpulse Implant Company, Ron's self-confidence has increased and he enjoys a better quality life.
Your United Way gift helped put a smile back on Ron's face. For more information, call Shirley Harris, Executive Director for D-DENT, at 405-424-8092 or toll-free at 800-522-9510.
