How Your Gift is Invested
United Way funds local programs which are working in one or more of our five Focus Areas – Successful Kids, Strong Families, Healthy Citizens, Independent Living, and Community Preparedness. Donor volunteers oversee the distribution of United Way dollars through an annual process we call Community Investment.
Each year, approximately 200 donors volunteer their time to review funding requests from local programs hoping to receive United Way support. These volunteers carefully assess program proposals, financial information, performance history, and outcomes measurement data in order to make funding recommendations to our Board of Directors.
Organizations that are approved are known as Partner Agencies. They have proven with reliable data that they are addressing clear needs in our Focus Areas and achieving measurable results. We ensure our donors the highest level of accountability and the maximum impact for their charitable investment.
